Pope Francis Calls on Ukraine To Have ‘The Courage of the White Flag’ and Make Peace With Russia
‘Negotiations Are Never a Surrender'
All around the world, the calls for a negotiated end to the war in Ukraine are multiplying, as the Ukraine fatigue hits many of the western powers who have prompted the Kiev regime up.
The latest world figure to suggest this path is Globalist Pope Francis, in an interview that was recorded last month with Swiss broadcaster RSI, but just now released.
Francis has called for Ukraine to have what he called 'the courage of the white flag' and negotiate an end to the war with Russia.
This call was aired right after Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan proposed to host a summit between Ukraine and Russia to end the war.
Erdogan made the renewed offer after a meeting in Istanbul with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky has said 'he will not give up any territory', and insisted in his own peace plan - the Kiev leader seems oblivious to the fact that, in a war, losing parties do not set peace terms.
Reuters reported:
"In the interview Francis was asked for his position on a debate between those who say Ukraine should give up as it has not been able to repel Russian forces, and those who say doing so would legitimize actions by the strongest party. The interviewer used the term 'white flag' in the question.
'It is one interpretation, that is true', Francis said, according to an advance transcript of the interview and a partial video made available to Reuters on Saturday. It is due to be broadcast on March 20 as part of a new cultural program.
'But I think that the strongest one is the one who looks at the situation, thinks about the people and has the courage of the white flag, and negotiates', Francis said, adding that talks should take place with the help of international powers.
'The word negotiate is a courageous word. When you see that you are defeated, that things are not going well, you have to have the courage to negotiate', Francis said."
"'One may feel shame', Francis said about negotiating, 'but how many dead will it (the war) end up with? (One should) negotiate in time, find a country that can be a mediator'."
ABC News reported:
"'When you see that you are defeated, that things are not going well, you have to have the courage to negotiate', he said. 'Negotiations are never a surrender'.
The pope also reminded people that some countries have offered to act as mediators in the conflict.
'Today, for example, in the war in Ukraine, there are many who want to mediate', he said. 'Turkey has offered itself for this. And others. Do not be ashamed to negotiate before things get worse'."
Can't wait to see where this goes. Nothing but starts and stops and plot twists aplenty. I might have to step out of the theatre for some extended fresh air. My nerves are completely shot. Will Potus ever be called upon, after all else fails? That's how I'd write it. #Knightinshiningarmarmor
