GOOD OMEN: A Rare White Bison Calf Is Born in Yellowstone
Fulfilling Native American Prophecy of Upcoming Prosperity!
It seems an ancient prophecy is afoot: and for once, it is a good and positive omen, a portending of good things to come.
It's been reported a rare fact: a white bison calf was born in Yellowstone National Park, Montana.
This birth, Native American leaders remind us, fulfils a Native American prophecy of great prosperity to come.
New York Post reported:
"Montana-based photographer Erin Braaten discovered the calf shortly after it was born on June 4 in the Lamar Valley, with the snaps showing the small animal taking her first steps beside her dark-brown family.
“I look and it’s this white bison calf. And I was just totally, totally floored,” Braaten told the [press]."
A millenary legend describes how a “White Buffalo Calf Woman” appeared before the Lakota people during a famine, presented the tribe a bowl pipe and bundle, and taught them a prayer.
She said that the pipe would attract the buffalo to them, and would provide them with sustenance.
The woman then transformed into a white buffalo.
She told the tribe that 'when times are hard again', she shall return and 'stand upon the earth as a white buffalo calf: black nose, black eyes, black hooves'.
Chief Arvol Looking Horse is the spiritual leader of the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota Oyate tribes in South Dakota. He is also the 19th keeper of the pipe and bundle traditionally provided by the White Buffalo Calf Woman.
He says the calf’s birth signals the return of a spirit of prosperity that Native Americans feel is akin to the second coming of Jesus Christ.
"Troy Heinert, the executive director of the InterTribal Buffalo Council, echoed the sacred nature of a white bison, noting that the calf seen in Braaten’s photos match the descriptions he’s heard passed down in his tribe and not those of an albino buffalo, which sport pink eyes.
'From the pictures I’ve seen, that calf seems to have those traits', Heinert said, adding that a white buffalo is revered by more tribes than just the Lakota."
To American Indians, the bison represents their spirit and remind them of how their lives were once lived, free and in harmony with nature.
A ceremony gathering Native American leaders in the region will be held on June 26 in West Yellowstone, to celebrate the calf’s birth.
Come on, white bison, let the Good Times roll!
