‘God Jammed the Gun’: Gunman Arrested After Attempting To Shoot Pastor in Pennsylvania Church (VIDEO)
In a sequence of events that many may be tempted to call a miracle, a pastor in Pittsburg escaped a shooting attempt during Sunday Mass.
The gunman was arrested after pulling his firearm on the pastor mid-sermon in a shocking scene caught on video.
Cops later found one of the gunman's relatives shot dead in his home.
New York Post reported:
"Bernard Polite, 26, was nabbed after trying to shoot pastor Glenn Germany at the Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock on Sunday afternoon, cops said."
Livestream of the shocking scenes show Germany ducking for cover as Polite held out the weapon in front of churchgoers, including the pastor’s teenage daughter.
“'He pulled the gun; it clicked', the pastor told WPXI. 'You heard him shoot it. God jammed the gun so the bullet didn’t come out'.”
25 parishioners were in the church listening to Germany’s sermon when Polite walked towards the stage.
“'He stood up and he smiled at me. And it was just a smile', Germany said. 'He comes to right here and then all of a sudden, that’s when I see him pull the gun and all I could do is duck and try to get out of the way'.”
Clarence McCallister, the church's deacon, tackled the would-be shooter. He and the Germany wrestled the gun from the suspect and held him down until cops arrived.
“God had his hands on the pastor,” McCallister said. “He wasn’t letting him go nowhere.”
The suspect revealed that he’d seen 'spirits' in his mind telling him to open fire.
“He actually apologized to me. I told him that ‘I forgive you and want you to know I love you,’ but yes, I definitely forgave him.”
